BMW South Africa honored last week the local opening of its two latest M models. The new BMW X5 M Competition and the new BMW X6 M Competition join the M SUV class, besides the X3 M and X4 M. The two flagships are the third generation of the high-performance BMW M models in the luxury SAV and SAC parts.

The new BMW X6 M was released in South Africa with the Black Sapphire color as the flagship color. Consolidated with the black accents of the Competition model, the Black Sapphire Metallic gives the X6 M a remarkably sporty, yet understated look.

The shinny black also appears to show off the car’s body lines and curves well, outwardly hiding too much but also holding it a bit muted, so it isn’t too in your face. It’s fashionable enough to reach out but not so much that it’s displeasing.

Powering this beast of an SUV is a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. That enables it to get from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, which is incredibly fast for something so large and heavy. Because it packs such bursting power and is an incredibly capable vehicle, an exterior color that’s even as exciting is presumably a good idea.

It’s the first time in history when the BMW X6 M is allowed in the Competition appearance. The two earlier generations were only offered in one taste and that appeared to work out exquisite for the car so far.

Upfront, the BMW X6 M gets a more hostile front bumper, with larger air inputs, and black accents on the Competition alternative. It also gets a rear roof spoiler in addition to a small decklid spoiler underneath it. There’s an impressive new rear bumper that houses quad exhaust pipes, the end of which being a signature M Division layout staple.

The rich interior ambiance is down in no small part to the fine-grain Merino full leather trim, the leather-covered BMW Individual device panel and the ambient lighting, while 2.5-zone automated climate control is also involved in the high-performance models as standard.

The socializer looks and sensational appearance of the new BMW X5 M, new BMW X6 M, and their Competition derivatives serve up an exceptional feast for the senses. The elevated state of these models within their own ranges and the unique concept underpinning them are more underlined by a standard kit roster created primarily for their purposes.
