Along with the launch of the new X3 M Competition, BMW finally brought out a rival for cars like the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S. That being said, the BMW held some really tough opponents to face and the job ahead clearly didn’t look easy. The first reports of the vehicle told us that’s quite a challenging model on the track but, as is the case with any car, it also had a couple of drawbacks.

Nonetheless, for most people, the BMW X3 M will give more performance than they will ever likely need. The video underneath proves that in spades, as it presents the BMW taking on its main opponent from Stuttgart, in a straight line acceleration comparison. It’s no drag race, but rather just a video built up of two clips, 1 for each car, going all out on an unrestricted Autobahn.

As you can notice from the clip, the two cars are way slower than what the producers claim. The BMW X3 M Competition is stated to be able of reaching 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds from a standstill.

We’ve also seen tests with faster times, but for a reason, it moved slower here, at 4.27 seconds. The AMG was also slower as well, doing the 0-100 in 3.9 seconds, as opposed to the claimed figure of 3.8, stated by AMG.

The two proceed accelerating really hard up into triple-digit territory posting pretty staggering numbers for such tall and heavy models. 0-200 km/h takes 14.6 seconds in the BMW and 13.92 in the Mercedes, while the 100-200 km/h speed up takes 10.33 seconds in the X3 M Competition and 10.02 in the AMG.

The 250 km/h point is reached in 27.85 seconds in the BMW and 25.15 seconds in the Mercedes. Is this sort of comparison suitable for some people to make up their minds? Probably no, but it’s interesting nevertheless.
